Hair Dryer Brush Recall!

Have you purchased one of these popular hair dryer brushes with a notable black and pink color scheme? Revlon was the first to introduce their Salon One Step hair dryer brush in 2016.  The brush makes drying hair a breeze with its consumer friendly design and ease of application.  The Revlon Salon One step brush became a favorite amongst many within the natural hair community.  Soon after generic (non-original) versions of the brush were everywhere but are these versions comparable to the original?  It would appear not.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently issued a warning to stop using hair dryer brushes by Jowenia and Zuoxukeji.  The hair dryer brushes manufactured by these sellers lack an integrated immersion protection device that can result in the risk of death or shock and electrocution.

The hair dryer brushes, though sold by different companies, all have the same model name (XR-8801) and label name (XRUI).  The generic hair dryer brush was sold on marketplaces such as Tik Tok shop, eBay.com and Walmart.com.  The names that this hair dryer brush was sold under are:

1.) Jowenia One-Step Hair Dryer and Styler, 3 in 1 Negative Ion Blow Dryer Brush for Smooth, Frizz Free Results for All Hair Types, brand name Haokaini. (Walmart.com)

2.) Tebru Paddle Brush, Electric Hair Dryer, 2 in 1 Multifunctional Anion Hair Dryer Brush Comb Styler Hairdressing Tool. (Walmart.com)

3.) Hair Dryer and Blow Dryer Brush, Hair Straightener Brush Hair Dryer Hot Air Brush (eBay.com)

4.) Multifunctional hot air brush, 1 box of automatic curlers, negative ion hot air brush, hair styling tools suitable for home and salon use, everyday hair tools.  (Tik Tok Shop)

If you have purchased a generic hair dryer brush from one of these sellers in the associated marketplaces listed above, you are advised to stop using the dryer and to carefully dispose of the item. Before disposing of the item, be sure to cut the cord prior to placing it in the trash.  The hair dryers are hazardous and as a result, they have been recalled.

Note: These hair dryers are not to be confused with Revlon's Salon One Step hair dryer which are safe for use. The one step hair dryer looks a bit different than its original 2016 design which is similar to the above hazardous hair dryer brushes.  Revlon's One Step hair dryer brush is now designed with an oval shape and bristles that appear on both sides.

It can be purchased here: Revlon One Step Hair Dryer brush
