Spotlight on: Muni Long

Some of you may know this talented singer and songwriter as Priscilla Renea as the artist would regularly perform using her birthname.  Muni Long had worked in the industry for over 10 years behind the scenes as a songwriter before she decided to reinvent herself.  She wanted a fresh slate and to also be able to garner the same feeling that an unknown artist has before they break out with a number one hit.

Recently on the Jennifer Hudson show, Muni Long provided further explanation surrounding her name change.  She read about an ancient Indian sage named Muni.  Sages are individuals who come to understand the reasons behind existence through self-realization.  Muni discussed the name she saw with her husband, and with his encouragement, he suggested that it be pronounced as “money.” In the interview, Muni Long stated that it was also an affirmation for her and a play on words.  She wanted her money to be long!  It certainly worked! She has even named her record label, Supergiant records and has been indeed been serving up mega giant musical tracks.

Muni Long’s life hasn’t always been easy.  She had to find her own way once she had experienced family troubles as a youth.  After experiencing past struggles, it was then where she ventured out on her musical journey.  She would sing words in the dictionary, combining miscellaneous words and meanings into musical perfection.  She  would also post videos of herself singing on her Youtube channel.  The Grammy Award winning artist has graduated to become a mega songwriter, penning songs for top artists such as Miranda Lambert, Arianna Grande, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey and Demi Lovato, to name a few.

Muni Long has a soulful and varied range. She can blow you away with a beautifully written country song and she can woo you and make you think that you’re back in the late 90s, when classic R&B was all the rage.  Muni is bringing back classic R&B and you can feel the nostalgia on her newest chart topping song, “Made for Me.”

As this is the month of love and she considers herself to be a lover, go run it up and stream her new song, “Made for Me” on all platforms.   She deserves all the success that she currently has and all that is to come.

Celebrities, designers and fashion's most influential will be convening at the 2025 Met Gala on Monday, May 5th.  This year's theme is "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.  The period of the Black Dandy spanned over two hundred years, beginning in the 1700s and continuing on until the civil rights era.  During the period, men of African descent used fashion and style as a form of expression and as a way to reclaim their dignity, after having endured years of racial oppression, rejection, misrepresentation and emasculation.  Black Dandyism was also a way to make political statements while transforming struggle into poise and power.  There isn't a better moment in time to revive Black Dandyism than now. The form of expression is mostly associated with the male gender. Females that will be in attendance will have a challenge to present a feminine take on Black Dandyism.  The style requires a good measure of class, elegance, and attention to detail.  The mos...
