Kinky Edges Wig? What Looks Most Realistic!

Lace fronts made with kinky edges are the latest rave amongst wig enthusiasts.  The wigs are not kinky in texture but the hairline is designed to provide a textured edge line to the wearer.  Most of the "kinky edges" wigs do not possess hair that is uniform in texture.  The hair may be straight, curly or wavy and the hairline or baby hair will be described as "kinky edges."  The hairline on these types of wigs are not actually kinky but more so textured.

Naturally kinky and afro textured wigs do not require kinky edges or a kinky baby hair line because the hair is all uniform and made to match the specific texture of the wig whether it be kinky or curly.

Kinky edges look best on wigs that are of a kinky straight texture and similar to how a natural hairline would look if straightened with a pressing comb.

These kinky edges are textured in nature and not actually kinky.  Kinky (not kinky curly) hair possesses the tightest curl pattern.  One wouldn't need to have a separate hairline that's kinky because the entire wig comprises the texture.  The "kinky edges" look mostly applies to lace wigs that are not kinky in texture.

To receive a true kinky hair line, one would need purchase a full kinky or afro textured wig.  People with naturally kinky or afro textures do not have a separate "kinky edge" line like these wigs display.

Many of the wigs labelled as having "kinky edges" do not look realistic as people with naturally kinky and curly hair do not have edges or a hair line that looks this way.  Individuals with natural kinky and afro hair have a hairline that looks like the two photos below.

The edge line of a wig should be uniform with the texture of the wig's hair.  If you're a wig wearer and interested in wigs with kinky edges, one rule of thumb to remember is that curly hair should have curly edges, kinky hair should have kinky edges and straight hair should have straight edges.  There shouldn't be a visible line of demarcation separating the hairline from the rest of the hair.  If the hairline has a noticeably different texture from the rest of the hair, it will look the least realistic.

The texture that "kinky edges" look the most realistic on for wigs is the kinky straight texture. Other straight wigs do look a bit odd with "kinky edges." After all, if desiring kinky edges, why not wear kinky hair?!

Baby Hair Banned!

Who would have thought that a day would come where a popular hair trend is forced to an end.  If you aren't clear about what hair trend that is, think of those swirly waves that are shaped and molded onto a woman's hairline often with the precision, grace and perfection of an artist creating complex paintings and illustrations in the studio.  We're talking baby hair, curlfriends! Dear Tekashi, Black Women Have Long Hair Just Like You!

Tekashi 69 went off on a remarkably shady rant towards people who had been talking negatively about his newest purple hair topper. Tekashi had been making multiple appearances in the colorful pixie wig which was seen in different posts and a recent interview.  He unleashed a barrel full of shady comments to individuals pointing the finger at his new cropped wig which some had been referring to as a 27 piece.  In his rant filled video, he employed a stylist to remove the wig while boasting about his natural hair which was notably long. He also made a point to show even the very scalp of his head.  During the rant, he claimed that he wanted to remind "bald-headed, no edges having @$$ h**s" about his actual hair.  He then went on to say that he wears a wig because he wants to and made it a point to say that those who've talked about him wear wigs because they have to.  Lastly, he called out all bald headed women asking viewers to tag them to his post.   T...
