Man Snatches Singer's Natural Textured Wig Off On Street

NY singer, Lizzy Ashleigh uploaded a Tik Tok video which showed a man snatching a green kinky curly wig off of her head.  Ashliegh was walking through the street, when the man casually walked up to her and pulled her wig off.  The man, whose since been identified as Anthony Orlich was with a friend when he engaged in the daring act.  After he pulled the wig off,  another man which appeared to be a friend, suggested that he apologize to Ashliegh as she yelled to Orlich, "Sir! For what f – – king reason?"

Lizzy Ashliegh captioned her Tik Tok post, “This man thought it was a good idea to snatch my wig off in the middle of the street and keep walking. THIS IS WILD TO ME. He doesn’t even see how he’s wrong or have the balls to say sorry. He’s not right when I was minding my own business this is crazy to me !! Upset now, but deleting later. To keep it transparent, New York is wild man.”

Now what could've been the reason for Orlich's violation of Lizzy's space? Was it a prank that he was carrying out on others and uploading to his own social media? Was he under the influence?  Or... was it a simply racist microaggression fueled behavior? After all, Lizzy is a black woman sporting an afrocentric look.

Most black women are all too familiar with the phrase, "Don't touch my hair."  It's often mentioned when a person reaches out to touch their hair without permission.  The sight of an afro or kinky hair often garners stares and touches from people of various races.  Of course, how can we forget Kelis's strange experience while in Singapore?!  Though it is a similar situation, the main difference is that Orlich is not foreigner; he is a resident of New York--so what really prompted him to tread the boundary and conduct the ultimate act of disrespect?  Not only did he touch her hair; he went as far as to snatch it off.

Women are very particular about their hair whether it be a wig or the hair growing straight out of their head.  After all, hair is hair.  What makes it even more sad is that Orlich did not apologize to Lizzy even after being prompted to by his friend.  He seemed to have no care for what he had done and managed to even display a smirk while shrugging his shoulders as if to say "what did I do?"  Ashleigh suffered from a tense neck and some pain after the incident.  Orlich has since been let go from his job as an attorney.
